A. L. Sestier is a fantasy and fiction author who crafts worlds where readers of all ages explore life's deepest truths. Her works span from picture books to young adult novels, including the YA Fantasy Family Demons, the middle-grade Peter Perseus series, and The Epic Feels series that helps little ones navigate big feelings. Drawing from her mixed-race heritage and neurodivergent perspective, she brings authentic representation to stories that examine everything from anxiety and emotions to the eternal dance between destiny and free will, love and power, redemption and family bonds.
Winner of the Andrew Leno Memorial Prize for Best in Ancient History at Royal Holloway and an alumna of the National Film and Television School's Scriptwriting short-course, Sestier combines her academic expertise with what she calls a 'pinball machine of ideas' - creating vibrant narratives that both challenge and inspire. Growing up on Star Trek and Diana Wynne Jones shaped her belief that fiction can illuminate paths to understanding ourselves and others, no matter our age.
Based in London, she divides her time between writing and conducting creative workshops across UK schools, where she helps young writers discover their own storytelling voices. Her illustrated children's books continue her mission of helping young minds understand the complex world around them.
